NCCU Track & Field Dominates with 11 Wins in Fourth Meet of Season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
North Carolina Central's track & field teams collected 11 event victories at the Champion College Team Challenge on Thursday.

The Eagles' 11 first-place performances are the most by an NCCU indoor squad since racking up seven triumphs in the JDL Team Challenge during the 2019 campaign. 
 
NCCU had seven wins on the track and four in the field. Sophomore Asia Bly sprinted the women's 60-meter dash in 7.77 seconds, while senior Olivia Andrews won the women's 400m race with a time of 59.46. The Eagles swept the women's and men's 200-meter races with junior Del'Nique Penn and freshman Justin Miles finishing in 26.00 and 22.98 seconds, respectively.

Freshman Victoria Swepson joined the party by picking up a win in the women's mile run, posting a time of 5:15.72. Andrews was joined by juniors Ariana Harrell and Emmaya Waters and freshman Tracey Manigault to capture the 4x400-meter relay crown (4:04.26). For the men, juniors Isaiah Hunter and Donnell Carter combined with seniors Gordon Lewis and Mackenson Yrelus to win the men's 4x400 (3:23.88). 
 
In the field, sophomore Joidon Boddie was the only participant to leap over 11 meters with her winning 11.46m leap in the women's triple jump. Junior Jaelyn Blanc soared 13.71 meters to seal a first-place finish in the men's triple jump. Senior Marvin Jones won the men's high jump for the third straight meet with a 2.04-meter attempt.

Freshman Anyae Lindsay earned a victory in the women's high jump with a 1.54-meter mark.
