NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 10, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Esports Community is just weeks away from kicking off its second season of intercollegiate varsity competition with the spring season currently slated to begin the week of Feb. 21.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,
Rocket League,
Halo: Infinite and
Call of Duty: Cold War are the games to be played this season.
Howard and Morgan State are looking to build on the success they had in the fall; Howard won MEAC Esports championships in
Call of Duty and
Rocket League, and the Bison’s Spiras won the
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate title, while Morgan State won the MEAC title in
Splitgate.
Morgan State was also runner-up in the other three games in the fall.
Tryouts are currently underway, and a week of preseason competition will kick off on Monday, Feb. 14. The regular season will run from the week of Feb. 21 through April 1, and April 4-11 will mark postseason play.
Each Tuesday will see players compete in
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and
Rocket League, while
Halo: Infinite and
Call of Duty: Cold War will be on tap each Thursday.
All competitions will be streamed live on the
MEAC Esports Twitch channel.
