Morgan State Men Tie for Win, Women Place Second at HBCU Showcase
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Morgan State men's indoor track & field team opened the 2022 portion of their schedule on Saturday at the Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) Showcase at the Armory Track and Field Center.
The Bears would finish with 11 top-3 finishes, including four event champions to help Morgan State claim a tie with Howard for this year's title with 132 points. In addition, senior sprinter Keon Rantin was named the Most Valuable Performer of the meet.
The Lady Bears finished second overall in the team standings after recording 15 top-10 finishes, including three individual champions.

Norfolk State Has Strong Showing at Gamecock Opener
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Victories by Kai Cole and Trequan Barnes and a trio of top-five finishes for Camren Wynder-Hill were among thehighlights for the Norfolk State men's track and field team on Saturday at the Gamecock Opener, the first meet of the calendar year for the Spartans.
For the women, Indya Richards placed in the top eight in three different events and Malika Pride and Leslie Young in two apiece.

South Carolina State Also Strong in Gamecock Opener
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The South Carolina State track & field teams post a combined 13 top-10 finishes, including six top-five performances, Saturday at the USC Opener hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Among the performances were seven personal records by head coach Jerod Wims' teams.

Coppin State Opens Indoor Season at HBCU Showcase
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Joseph Manu won the 60-meter dash and Jeff Hammond took gold in the long jump as the Coppin State men's track & field team opened its season at the HBCU Showcase at New York Armory on Saturday Afternoon.
Manu was victorious in the short sprint with a time of 6.73, which is the top time in the MEAC this season.
On the women's side, Kimani Alphonse
won the 400-meter dash and helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a silver medal. She clocked an indoor personal record of 56.60 in the 400.

Maryland Eastern Shore Opens Season at HBCU Showcase
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- After over two years of waiting to make their way back to competition, the Maryland Eastern Shore track & field team was back in action on Saturday as the men's and women's squads made their way to New York for the annual Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Battle.
Shaking the rust off while new faces got a feel for college competition, the Hawks men and women took third and fifth, respectively, in one of the most well known HBCU meets in the country.
