NORFOLK, Va., July 1, 2021 – Even during COVID-19, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has assisted its member institutions financially by making year-end revenue distributions at the conclusion of each academic year.
In fact, that has happened for 19 consecutive years.
“We’ve been able to distribute revenue back every year to all of our member institutions during my tenure as commissioner. That is something that we’re tremendously proud of,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. “The funds our institutions receive assist with student-athlete experiences, summer school, digital broadcasts and with other operational expenses.”
Despite the reduced revenue from the impacts of the pandemic over the past year and a half, the conference was still able to disseminate year-end monies to its member institutions.
“We have always been a financially prudent conference,” Thomas said.
The MEAC just concluded its
50th anniversary celebration during the 2020-21 academic year, naming All-Time Teams in each of its 16 sponsored sports, as well as wrestling. Additionally, MEAC Legends of Coaching and MEAC Pioneers in Women’s Sports were also honored.
