NORFOLK, Va., April 21, 2021—
North Carolina A&T State junior Cory Poole was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today.
South Carolina State sophomore Dexter Ratliff was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while
North Carolina A&T State senior Loren James was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Poole (Jr., East Orange, N.J.) holds the ninth-fastest time in the nation and the fastest time in the MEAC in the men’s 110-meter hurdles after turning in a personal-best 13.59 this past weekend to come in second in the event at the USC Open.
Ratliff (So., Beaufort, S.C.) set the MEAC’s best mark in the discus throw this past weekend at the USC Open, tossing the implement a personal-best 49.30 meters (161 feet, 9 inches) to come in fourth in the event.
James (Sr., Baton Rouge, La.) set a new personal best in both the shot put and the hammer throw this past weekend at the USC Open, winning the shot put in the process. Her distance of 16.07 meters (52 feet, 8.75 inches) is the best in the MEAC this season, as is the 52.74-meter (73-foot) mark she set in the hammer throw.
Other Top Performers
Adrian Holley (Morgan State) ran a personal-best 10.64 in the 100 meters at the JMU Invitational while also turning in strong efforts in the 200 meters and 4x400-meter relay.
Miazzah Rose (Morgan State) won the high jump at the JMU Invitational, tying her season-best mark of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches).
Devin Brewington (South Carolina State) helped the Bulldogs finish second in the 4x400-meter relay at the USC Open.
