NCAT: Four of the World's Finest

AUSTIN, Texas & COLUMBIA, S.C. -- 
It wasn't good enough for junior Daniel Stokes, sophomore Randolph Ross Jr., and seniors Elijah Young and Trevor Stewart to be the best in the nation. 

They're looking for world domination. The North Carolina A&T State men's outdoor track & field 4x400-meter relay team ran the fastest time in the world to date by winning the 4x400 at the 93rd annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium. 

The Aggies also competed in the Weems Baskin Outdoor Track and Field Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina (USC) at Cregger Track. Sophomore Jasmine Jenkins and senior Loren James took 1-2 at USC. Jenkins won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 171-feet, 1-inch. James placed second with a measurement of 170-feet, 2-inches. 

In addition to the men's 4x400 team's exploits in Texas, Aggies sophomore sprinter Cambrea Sturgis came away with first place in the women's 200 meters.

Coppin State Starts Strong in Outdoor Campaign at Weems Baskin

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- 
Amadou Ba won a pair of events, while Joseph Manu and Abayie Opuni triumphed in their respective sprinting events to lead the Coppin State men's track team at the Wees Baskin Invitational over the weekend at Cregger Track.
 
Making his outdoor debut at Coppin, Ba won the 800 meters in 1:53.65 and the 1,500 meters in 4:03.61. His 800 time is currently the fastest in the MEAC, while his 1,500 performance is currently the second-fastest in the conference. Randy Serville competed alongside Ba in the 800 and finished in 1:59.55.
 
On the women's side, Latifa Ali broke a school record in the 100-meter dash.
 
A sophomore from Kumasi, Ghana, Ali clocked a 11.57 in the 100 to finish fourth overall, breaking Melissa Caddle-Hope's eight-year old record of 11.72.

Howard Finishes Strong at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. -- 
After a solid opening act, the Howard University men's and women's track & field teams finished the weekend strong at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
 
Senior sprinter Jessika Gbai set the tone with a record-setting performance in the women's 200-meter dash. After qualifying for the 100-meter dash finals Thursday, the Philadelphia native's attention turned to her primary event where she broke her own mark, clocking in at 23.43.

In that meet, she fell just shy of medaling, claiming fourth overall.

Henry Wins Long Jump at Navy Spring Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- 
Ayanna Henry captured Morgan State's lone gold for the weekend at the Navy Spring Invitational, when she recorded a personal-best 19-02.50 to win the long jump. Miazziah Rose also set a personal best and placed fourth with a jump of 17-09.75, while Aylexus Leshay had a leap of 16-04.25 to place eighth.
 
Jannah Sharpe placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 144-02. Jaida West had a throw of 116-01 to finish fifth.

S.C. State Records Nine Top-10, 12 PRs at Weems Baskin

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- 
The South Carolina State track & field teams combined for nine top-10 finishes and set 12 personal records in a crowded field during the two-day Weems Baskins Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina on Friday and Saturday.

NCCU Earns Eight Top-15s at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. -- 
The North Carolina Central track & field teams kicked off the 2021 outdoor campaign by achieving eight top-15 finishes at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University on Thursday through Saturday.
 
NCCU had two individuals finish within the top five of their respective events. Senior Marvin Jones soared 2.05 meters to a second-place finish in the men's high jump. Sophomore Donnell Carter set a new personal-best 47.46 seconds to place fourth in the men's 400-meter dash.
