MEAC Announces Weekly Track & Field Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 17, 2021North Carolina A&T State sophomore Randolph Ross was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today, while North Carolina A&T State senior Delecia McDuffie was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Norfolk State sophomore Azad Williams was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Norfolk State junior Arieana Parker was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Ross (So., Raleigh, N.C.) is the nation’s top 400-meter runner after this past weekend’s Tiger Paw Invite hosted by Clemson. He won that event with a personal-best time of 45.21 to lead the nation, and he also set a new PR in the 200 meters, clocking in at 20.50 to win that event and rank No. 3 in the nation.
 
McDuffie (Sr., Aiken, S.C.) set two personal bests this past weekend at the Tiger Paw Invite. She ran a 23.34 in the 200 meters, which is currently the sixth-fastest time in the country, and she ran a 53.28 to come in third in the 400 meters. She currently ranks 23rd nationally in that event.
 
Williams (So., Chesapeake, Va.) is the MEAC’s top shot putter, and he proved that again this past weekend when he won the event at the inaugural Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational with a distance of 49 feet, 7 inches (15.11 meters).
 
Parker (Jr. Smithfield, Va.) leads the MEAC in the women’s weight throw after this past weekend’s Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational, where she won gold with a school-record distance of 59 feet, 7.5 inches (18.17 meters).
 
Other Top Performers
Latifa Ali (Coppin State) was third in both the 200 (24.10) and 60 meters (7.47) at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invite.
 
Amadou Ba (Coppin State) ran a MEAC-best 1:52.64 to win the 800 meters at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invite.
 
Alanna Newby (Coppin State) tossed the shot put 43 feet, 3.25 inches to win gold at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invite.
 
Balvin Richards (Coppin State) was second in the shot put at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invite with a mark of 43 feet, 0.25 inches.
 
Kiara Grant (Norfolk State) won both the 60 and 200 meters at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invite, turning in times of 7.25 and 23.88.
