MEAC Announces Weekly Track & Field Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 20, 2021North Carolina A&T State sophomore Randolph Ross was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today, while North Carolina A&T State junior Cambrea Sturgis was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. North Carolina A&T State sophomore Bradley Fleurinord was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while North Carolina A&T State freshman Arrieya Harper was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Ross (So., Raleigh, N.C.) picked up right where he left off in 2019-20 this past weekend, winning both the 400 meters and 4x400-meter relay in the McCravy Green Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky. His time of 46.20 in the 400 meters is currently second-fastest in the nation, as is the Aggies’ 4x400 time of 3:09.28.
 
Sturgis (Jr., Kannapolis, N.C.) won the 60 meters at the McCravy Green Invitational this past weekend, turning in a 7.29 – tied for the second-fastest time in the nation. She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay squad that finished second with a time of 3:44.76 (14th in the nation).
 
Fleurinord (So., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won the long jump this past weekend in the McCravy Green Invitational, leaping a distance of 24 feet, 6.75 inches. That mark is currently tied for the 12th-longest in the nation.
 
Harper (Fr., Carson, Calif.) won the triple jump at the McCravy Green Invitational, leaping 38 feet, seven inches. She is currently tied for 37th in the nation in that event.
 
Other Top Performers
Trequan Barnes (Norfolk State) ranks 15th nationally in the 400 meters after winning the race with a time of 47.65 at the Gamecock Opener.
 
Kiara Grant (Norfolk State) won the 60 meters at the Gamecock Opener in 7.35 seconds and is tied for eighth in the nation in that event.
 
Isaac Haywood (Norfolk State) came in fifth in the triple jump (48’6.75”) and sixth in the long jump (23’2.5”) in the Gamecock Opener.
 
Arieana Parker (Norfolk State) came in fourth in the weight throw at the Gamecock Opener with a mark of 55’3.75”.
 
Waddell Rembert-Jett (South Carolina State) came in second in the distance medley relay and fifth in the 200 meters at the Gamecock Opener.
 
Tanryn Thorn (South Carolina State) ran a 25.44 to finish sixth in the 200 meters at the Gamecock Opener.
