KNOXVILLE, Tenn., April 13, 2008 -- Delaware State freshman Donte Holmes qualified for the NCAA regional championships in the outdoor 800-meter run, exceeding the national qualifying standard during a second-place finish at the University of Tennessee Sea Ray Relays. Holmes completed the course in a career best time of 1:49.37.
Hornets also chalked up a first place finish in the 4x200-meter relay during the event. The team of Lee Barnes, Brycen Davis, Larrone Moore and Burton Clarke topped the field with a time of 1:25.81, just ahead of second place Ohio State (1:25.93).
The Hornets also turned in a fourth place showing in the 1600-meter relay. DSU's team of Holmes, Moore, Andre Easton and Brandon Reeves posted a time of 3:10.32, trailing only Kentucky (3:06.52), Illinois (3:07.98) and Tennessee (3:08.46).
