NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 5, 2020—
North Carolina A&T State freshman Randolph Ross was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, while
Norfolk State junior Kiara Grant was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Maryland Eastern Shore senior Tamunoibi Dabipi was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while
Morgan State sophomore Diamond Moore was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Ross (Fr., Garner, N.C.) again set the world’s fastest time in the men’s 400 meters this past weekend, running a 45.44 at the Texas Tech Invitational – a time that was converted to 45.55 for altitude. Ross is one of just two athletes in all of Div. I to break the 46-second mark at 400 meters.
Grant (Jr., Kingston, Jamaica) won two gold medals at the Penn State National Open, further solidifying herself as one of the best sprinters in the nation. She set a new personal best and broke the school record at 60 meters, running a 7.20 – which is the seventh-fastest time in the nation. Grant also won the 200 meters, clocking in at 23.66.
Dabipi (Sr., Salisbury, Md.) set the MEAC’s second-best distance in the weight throw this past weekend in the Eastern Shore Combined & Multi, winning gold with a mark of 17.34 meters (56 feet, 10.75 inches), and he is just two feet off the top mark in the conference.
Moore (So., Glen Burnie, Md.) further entrenched herself as a conference favorite in the women’s heptathlon, winning the gold medal at the Eastern Shore Combined & Multi with 3,018 points. She won two of the three field events (and three events overall), taking the high jump (1.58 meters) and the long jump (4.95 meters), while finishing third in the shot put.

Joseph Amoah (CSU) ranks third in the nation and atop the MEAC in the men’s 200 meters after running a 20.73 at the Scarlet & White Invitational.
Alanna Newby (CSU) set a new personal best in the women’s shot put at the Scarlet & White Invitational with a distance of 13.35 meters.
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) ran a personal-best 2:11.05 in the women’s 800 meters at the Scarlet & White Invitational.
Ibrahim Bangura (DSU) ran a 6.85 to win the men’s 60 meters at the Villanova Invite.
Tre Johnson (DSU) set a personal-best mark of 15.10 meters in the triple jump at the Villanova Invite.
Pache’ Caldwell (FAMU) won the long jump for the second straight week, leaping 7.07 meters at the Jaguar Invitational.
Jonae Harris (FAMU) was second in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the Jaguar Invitational, running an 8.63.
Rachel Edler (HOW) leaped 12.25 meters to win the women’s triple jump at the Navy Invitational II.
Dasia Wilson (HOW) ran a 2:11.67 to win the women’s 800 meters at the Navy Invitational II.
Valencia McDowell (MSU) was second in the women’s 800 meters at the Navy Invitational II with a time of 2:12.08.
Keon Rantin (MSU) won the 60 meters (6.88) and 400 meters (47.50) at the Navy Invitational II.
Kobe-Jordan Rhooms (MSU) ranks third in the MEAC in the triple jump after leaping 15.12 meters at the Navy Invitational II.
Loren James (NCAT) came in third in the women’s shot put at the Carolina Challenge with a personal-best distance of 14.80 meters.
Delecia McDuffie (NCAT) led an Aggies’ 1-2-3 effort in the women’s 200 meters at the Carolina Challenge, running a personal-best 23.89.
Evans Cheruiyot (NSU) set the MEAC’s best time at 5,000 meters, turning in a 14:58.95 at the Penn State National Open.
Mahki Herring (UMES) ran a 6.99 to win the 60 meters at the Eastern Shore Combined & Multi.
Aurelia Jepkorir (UMES) ran a 5:18.39 in the women’s mile at the Eastern Shore Combined & Multi.
