North Carolina A&T State senior Jaylan Mitchell was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, while
North Carolina A&T State senior Madeleine Akobundu was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Bethune-Cookman senior JaQuaveon Beachem was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while
Florida A&M sophomore Rachel Robertson was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Mitchell (Sr., Durham, N.C.) ranks third in the nation in the men’s 60 meters after this past weekend, where he turned in a 6.60 to win gold at the Hokie Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech.
Akobundu (Sr., Lanham, Md.) also ranks third in the nation, in her case in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, after the 8.08 she ran in winning the event at the Hokie Invitational.
Beachem (Sr., Norfolk, Va.) leads the MEAC and is 20
th in the nation in the men’s triple jump, thanks to the distance of 15.63 meters (51 feet, 3.5 inches) he leapt this past weekend at the KMS Invitational.
Robertson (So., Atlanta, Ga.) ranks second in the MEAC and tied for 73
rd in the nation in the women’s high jump after clearing 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches) to finish second this past weekend at the KMS Invitational.

Christine McNeal (B-CU) was third in the women’s long jump (5.40 meters) and fifth in the triple jump (11.10 meters) at the KMS Invitational.
Curtis Thomas (B-CU) won the men’s 60 meters at the KMS Invitational, running a 6.76.
Najah Whitfield (B-CU) was fourth in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the KMS Invitational, running an 8.86.
Joseph Amoah (CSU) came in third in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 20.87, eighth-fastest in the nation.
Tre’J Johnson (CSU) was eighth in the women’s triple jump at the Rod McCravy Memorial, leaping 12.15 meters.
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) was fourth in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:12.45 at the Rod McCravy Memorial.
Michael Scott (CSU) leaped 7.11 meters to finish eighth in the men’s long jump at the Rod McCravy Memorial.
Pache’ Caldwell (FAMU) won the men’s long jump at the KMS Invitational with a distance of 6.91 meters.
Jonae Harris (FAMU) ran a personal-best 8.76 in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the KMS Invitational.
Dinedye Denis (MSU) came in fourth in the women’s 400 meters (57.26) and fifth in the 60 meters (7.67) at Liberty.
Alantra Mines (MSU) was second in the women’s triple jump at Liberty, clearing a distance of 12.27 meters.
Keon Rantin (MSU) was second in the men’s 60 meters (6.79) and third in the 200 meters (personal-best 21.27) at Liberty.
Randolph Ross (NCAT) won his first collegiate field event at the Hokie Invitational, taking the men’s high jump with a mark of 2.05 meters.
Anteneh Girma (NSU) set a MEAC and personal best in the men’s 5,000 meters at VMI, finishing third with a time of 15:02.03.
Arieana Parker (NSU) set a new school record in the women’s weight throw at VMI, recording a distance of 17.25 meters.
DaJah Parker-Love (NSU) won both the women’s 60 meters (7.42) and 200 meters (24.13) at VMI.
Azad Williams (NSU) recorded season bests in the men’s shot put (14.75 meters) and weight throw (13.46 meters) at VMI.
Mahki Herring (UMES) ran a 22.04 in the men’s 200 meters at Liberty.
