MEAC Announces Weekly Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 11, 2019Morgan State junior Keon Rantin was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, while Morgan State senior Infinnatie Rowe was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Bethune-Cookman redshirt senior Kelton Williams earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman junior Monae Nichols was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Rantin (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) ran a 47.50 in the 400 meters at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, winning the event and posting the fastest time in the MEAC so far this season. With that time, Rantin ranks sixth in the nation at 400 meters after the first weekend.
 
Rowe (Sr., Pontiac, Mich.) posted the fastest time in the nation in 800 meters at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, winning gold with a 2:11.60. She also came in third in the mile run at 5:09.54, which is the fastest time in the MEAC in that event.
 
Williams (r-Sr., Fitzgerald, Ga.) tied for the sixth-longest distance in the nation in the high jump, clearing 2.15 meters (7 feet, 0.5 inches) to win gold at the JDL Early Bird Invitational. He led four Wildcats in the top five in that event.
 
Nichols (Jr., Lakland, Fla.) was also strong in the JDL Early Bird Invitational, leaping 6.08 meters (19 feet, 11.5 inches) to take the gold medal in the event. Her mark is tied for sixth in the nation, and Nichols qualified for the MEAC Championships in both the long jump and 60-meter hurdles.
 
Other Top Performers
Carlin Berryhill (B-CU) posted the 11th-fastest time in the nation in the mile run at 4:20.05.
 
Najah Whitfield (B-CU) won the 200 meters (25.92) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.91) at the JDL Early Bird.
 
Amber Conyers (DSU) won the long jump (5.58 meters) and triple jump (11.48 meters) at the Cappy Anderson Invite.
 
Keith Washington (DSU) won the 500 meters at the Cappy Anderson Invite, running a 1:06.19.
 
Darian Clyburn (HOW) won the 60-meter hurdles at the Cappy Anderson Invite after running an 8.08.
 
Jessika Gbai (HOW) ran a MEAC-best 7.66 to win the 60 meters at the Cappy Anderson Invite.
 
Kobe-Jordan Rhooms (MSU) ranks 10th nationally in the high jump after clearing 2.10 meters to win the event at the Navy Invitational.
 
Shalah Means (NCAT) ran a 2:21.91 to win the 800 meters at the JDL College Kickoff.
 
Jayne Roberts (NCAT) won the pole vault at the JDL College Kickoff, clearing 3.20 meters (10 feet, six inches)
 
Aaron Wilkerson (NCAT) won the shot put with a PR of 16.81 meters (55 feet, two inches) and was third in the weight throw at 16.90 meters (55 feet, 5.5 inches), leading the MEAC in both events.
 
Corneshia Mitchell (NCCU) won the shot put (13.76m) and weight throw (18.45 meters) at the JDL College Kickoff.
 
Martha Bissah (NSU) rana personal-best 9:48.53 (converted to 9:43.53) to win the 3,000 meters at the CNU Holiday Open, setting a new PR and ranking seventh in the nation.
 
Lelei Too (NSU) ran an 8:40.98 to win the 3,000 meters at the CNU Holiday Open.
