Bethune-Cookman
 
Recovery time? Cool down time? Aw, heck naw … if you could teleport Jonathan Moore to Eugene, Oregon, he'd run the 800 again tonight.

That's how hyped the Bethune-Cookman senior was after winning his heat Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary at the University of South Florida.

Moore punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor National Championship along with Jordan Williams in the 400 meters. Both will now compete at "Track Town"  June 6-9 in Eugene.
Coppin State
 
Coppin State's Aaron Lewis and Joseph Amoah qualified for Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal in the 110m hurdles and 200m dash, respectively, in the First Round of the NCAA East Prelims on Friday afternoon.

Florida A&M
 
Jamari Smith finished 18th in the quarterfinals of the 400 while freshman Taylor Gorum placed 23rd in the discus. Gorum will throw the shot put Saturday.
 
Hampton
With a school record best time, freshman Wesley Kirui continued his stellar first season on Friday night at the University of South Florida Track and Field Stadium for the NCAA East Regional qualifier.

Kirui ran a school record 8:45.73 to place third in his heat of the 3000-meter steeplechase and earned his spot at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon from June 6-9.

Howard
Howard University sophomore hurdler Uchechi Onuoha set a new personal best at the NCAA Preliminary East Round Women's 400-meter Hurdle Quarterfinals but fell short in reaching Oregon for the championship round.
 
The Pennsylvania native ended her sophomore campaign on a high note, eclipsing a season-best 58.02.

Maryland Eastern Shore

Maryland Eastern Shore senior Oussama Chouati (Manresa, Spain) completed his Hawk career with the running of the NCAA Eastern Preliminaries on Friday (May 25).

Chouati competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase during the first heat. Overall he placed 41st with a time of 9:21.02.  For his heat he placed 12th, with his fastest lap of 1:15.95 coming in his fourth go around.

The 2018 collegiate season came to an end for Morgan State's Annastacia Barham and Lloyd Hylton Thursday afternoon on the opening day of the NCAA Track & Field Championships East Preliminary Round.

Norfolk State
Norfolk State sophomore 800-meter runner Martha Bissah became the first Spartan since 2013 to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships Friday with her fifth-place showing at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday afternoon at the University of South Florida.

Bissah placed third in her heat to clinch an automatic spot in next month's NCAA 800m championship field. She moved up from sixth place after 400 meters with a strong showing on the final lap, and clocked a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 3.75 seconds. Her time ended up being the fifth-fastest out of the 24 runners in the quarterfinal round. The top 12 from both the East and West Preliminary Rounds advance to the outdoor nationals at the University of Oregon June 6-9.

North Carolina A&T State

North Carolina A&T track and field (men and women) completed the second day of the 2018 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round at USF Track & Field Stadium on Friday.

One Aggie is guaranteed to see their respective seasons furthered at the NCAA Championships, June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore. While some are headed to Saturday quarterfinals for a chance at nationals.

Bethany White finished 22nd in the quarterfinals of the 100 and did not compete in the 200 due to the timing of the events. Bhrandi Crenshaw will compete in the triple jump Saturday while Gordon Lewis wrapped up his season in the 200 on Friday.

Sophomore Abbas Abbkar of the Savannah State University men's track team set his own school record and narrowly missed out on advancing at the National Collegiate Athletics Association East Preliminary round at the USF Track & Field Stadium Thursday.

South Carolina State

South Carolina State sprinter Tyrell Richard won his 400-meter heat in a time of 45.48 Friday to advance to the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championship set for Eugene, OR Jun. 6-9, becoming the first Bulldog to earn a trip to the prestigious meet in 14 seasons.

The Georgetown, SC sophomore, running in lane six, overtook the field in the final 150 meters, automatically qualify for his chance at glory in Eugene where he will be among 24 student-athletes from across the nation vying for the 400-meter title.
