NORFOLK, Va. - Trequan Barnes of Norfolk State and Trevor Stewart of North Carolina A&T State were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Men's Co-Track Performers of the week while Martha Bissah of Norfolk State was selected as the Women’s Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced today. The Norfolk State duo of Jacob Milton and Garth Warner shared Co-Field Performers of the Week honors while Howard’s Dominique Cleggett was named Women’s Field Performer of the Week.
Barnes (Fr., Winston-Salem, N.C.) won first place at the Virginia Grand Prix with a personal-best time of 46.15 in the 400-meter dash. The time ranks as the second-fastest in the MEAC, second in the NCAA East Region and 23
rd nationally. His time is the fastest by a Spartan since 2016.
Stewart (Fr., Lorton, Va.) claimed the 400-meter championship at the LSU Invitational this past weekend with a winning time of 45.82. Stewart’s time ranks first in the MEAC and 13
th in the nation.
Bissah (So., Accra, Ghana) is continuing to peak at the right time as she posted a personal-best time for the third consecutive week. The sophomore won the 800 at the Virginia Grand Prix in a time of 2:04.32 and ranks atop the MEAC and 11
th nationally.
Cleggett (Sr., New Orleans, La.) made history as Howard’s first female student-athlete to win an individual event at the Penn Relays. She claimed the long jump title in the college division with a mark of 20-3.75 feet. Cleggett’s mark currently ranks second in the MEAC.
Milton (So., Stuttgart, Germany) tied for the high jump title with a mark of 6-10.25 feet at the Virginia Grand Prix. He captured his fourth high jump title of the season.
Warner (R-So., Wilmington, Del.) jumped 6-10.25 feet at the Virginia Grand Prix to win his second high jump title of the season. He has the second and third-highest jump in the MEAC this season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS (men)
Joseph Amoah (Coppin State) helped the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams qualify for the Championship of America Invitational at the Penn Relays. The 4x200 set a school record of 1:24.08 to take fifth overall while the 4x100 squad placed sixth in the prestigious event.
Kareem Fair (Bethune-Cookman) placed first in the 100 (10.38) at the North Florida Invitational.
Jeremiah Peters (Bethune-Cookman) won the shot put with a throw of 55-10.25 feet at the North Florida Invitational.
Jaelen Williams (Hampton) won the 400-meter hurdles at the Penn Relays in a time of 51.23. He was the first individual winner at the relays under Hampton head coach Maurice Pierce.
NOTE: The
NCCU 4x100-meter team achieved the school's fastest time (39.94) in 16 years to place fourth in the Championship of America Invitational finals during the Penn Relays.

Quamecha Morrison (Bethune-Cookman) placed second (5-8) in the high jump at the North Florida Invitational.
Lea Tshikaya (Bethune-Cookman) ran the MEAC’s fastest time (59.24) in the 400-meter hurdles at the North Florida Invitational.
