MEAC Announces Weekly Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina A&T State’s Michael Dickson and Bethune-Cookman’s Kareem Fair have been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Co-Men's Track Performers of the Week while Bethune-Cookman’s Jonina Brinson was selected as the MEAC’s Women’s Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced today. Jacob Milton of Norfolk State has been named the Men’s Field Performer of the Week while Howard’s Rachel Edler and Bethune-Cookman’s Jacqueline Thomas earned Co-Women’s Field Performers of the Week honors.
 
Dickson (Jr., Beaufort, S.C.) posted the ninth-fastest and MEAC’s top time in the 110-meter hurdles this past weekend at the Gamecock Invitational. He clocked a time of 13.75 in the preliminary round as he finished as the top collegian in the event.
 
Fair (R-Sr., Apopka, Fla.) recorded a 10.11 at the Embry-Riddle Spike’s Classic as he won the 100-meter dash. He now ranks 13th nationally while also leading the Wildcats to a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter dash.
 
Brinson (Sr., Swainsboro, Ga.) captured first place in the 100-meter dash at the Embry-Riddle Spike’s Classic in addition to leading the 4x100-meter relay to a first-place run. She also placed second overall in the 200. Brinson’s 100-meter time of 11.59 currently ranks second in the MEAC.
 
Milton (So., Stuttgart, Germany) won the high jump at the Colonial Classic as he went over the seven-foot mark en route to his second outdoor title of the season. He remains the only jumper in the conference to surpass the seven-foot mark in the 2018 outdoor season.
 
Edler (Fr., Stone Mountain, Ga.) placed second in the triple jump after a mark of 39-5 feet at the Gamecock Invitational. The jump was a personal-best and ranks as the fourth-best in the MEAC.
 
Thomas (Fr., Orange Park, Fla.) jumped 19-4 feet to place second overall at the Embry-Riddle Spike’s Classic and holds the second-best mark in the MEAC in the event.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS (men)

Mohamed Bah (Howard) placed sixth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:53.98 and participated on the 4x400 relay team which placed fourth at the Gamecock Invitational.
 
Keith Brown (Norfolk State) captured three top-10 finishes at the Colonial Relays which was highlighted by a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.6). Brown also participated on the first-place 4x200-relay team.
 
Oussama Chouati (Maryland Eastern Shore) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Colonial Relays with a time of 9:06.75.
 
Jaiquan Earls (Bethune-Cookman) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 24-1.5 and fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 45-5 at the Embry-Riddle Spike’s Classic.
 
Wesley Kirui (Hampton) posted the MEAC’s fastest 5,000-meter run time this season with a second-place finish of 14:25.19 at the Colonial Relays.
 
Kobe-Jordan Rhooms (Morgan State) won the long jump at the Colonial Relays with a mark of 23-5.25.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS (women)

Luan Gabriel (Maryland Eastern Shore) set personal records in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Colonial Relays. She also moved into the top 15 of the ECAC rankings in the 200.
 
Uchechi Onuoha (Howard) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.49) and ran on the third-place mile-relay team at the Gamecock Invitational.
 
Malika Pride (Norfolk State) placed second in the 400-meter dash after recording a collegiate-best time of 56.04 while also participating on the first-place 4x200-meter relay squad.
