NORFOLK, Va. - Demek Kemp of South Carolina State and Kayla White of North Carolina A&T State were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Men's and Women’s Track Performers of the Week, the conference announced today. Norfolk State’s Garth Warner was named MEAC Men’s Field Performer of the Week while Morgan State’s Jailah Mason and Quamecha Morrison shared Co-MEAC Field Performer of the Week honors.

Kemp (Monroe, Ga.) continued his record-setting season in the 60-meters as he won the event in the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational this past weekend in Johnson City, Tenn. He took on all challengers in the event as he claimed first place in both preliminary rounds before dropping a personal-best time of 6.63 in finals. Kemp’s time ranks second-best in the MEAC and seventh nationally. He also lowered his school record and set a meet record in Tennessee.

White (Miami, Fla.) broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles as her first-place time of 8.14 set at the Camel City Invitational ranks eighth nationally and tops in the MEAC. Prior to her record-setting performance, she posted the MEAC’s second-fastest time in the preliminary round before besting her mark in the finals.

Warner (Wilmington, Del.) set a new personal record in the high jump this past weekend at the Darius Dixon Invitational. The sophomore finished second overall in the event after a leap of 7-0.25 and ranks 40th nationally as he’s one of only two student-athletes in the MEAC to surpass the seven-foot mark.

Morrison (Beaufort, S.C.) placed first in the high jump at the Camel City Invitational with a height of 5-8.75. She already holds the ninth-best jump (6-0.5) nationally which was set back on Jan. 6 at Clemson. Last weekend’s mark is tied for the second in the MEAC.

Mason (Sterling Heights, Mich.) won the high jump by an inch-and-a-half over the nearest competitor at the Scarlet and White Invitational in Boston as she cleared 5-8.75. She currently ranks 40th nationally and is second in the MEAC.
