EUGENE, Ore. - North Carolina A&T State's Christopher Belcher stole the headlines with a pair of record-breaking runs to highlight the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Oregon.
Belcher cemented himself into MEAC history as he shattered his own MEAC record in the 100-meter dash semifinals and posted the fifth-fastest time in collegiate history after a time of 9.93. Nearly one hour later, Belcher returned to the track and qualified for the finals of the 200-meter dash on Friday as he posted the fastest time (20.01) of the evening. Earlier in the day, he helped the Aggies' 4x100-meter relay team qualify for the finals as the quartet ran the second-fastest semifinal time of the day (38.23).
