Deyvon Howell of Morgan State and Hampton's Jaelen Leonard were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week. Hampton's Trey Clark and Morgan State's Jailah Mason were named the MEAC Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.
Howell (Bryans, Md.) had a solid weekend on the track at the 2017 Yale Season Opener with three first-place performances. He won the 60-meter dash with an IC4A qualifying time of 6.85, followed by a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash (21.72). He was also a member of the 4x400-meter dash relay team that captured first place with a time of 3:16.73.
Participating at the CNU Holiday Open, Leonard (Virginia Beach, Va.) won three events highlighted by a MEAC-best length of 18-9.75 in the long jump. She ran a time of 25.16 in the 200 and participated on the first-place mile relay squad.
Clark (Columbia, Md.) placed second in the pole vault at the CNU Holiday Open with a jump of 13-11.25. His leap currently ranks second in the MEAC.
Competing in her first event of 2017, Mason (Sterling Heights, Mich.) won the high jump at the 2017 Yale Season Opener with a mark of 5-7. Her mark currently ranks 28th nationally.

Cheyenne Brooks (Florida A&M) recorded a MEAC-best mark of 11-1.75 feet in the pole vault at the Clemson Opener.
Judah Corriette (Maryland Eastern Shore) earned a personal record time of 2:33.71 in the 1,000-meters and his first individual victory as a Hawk during his run at the Seahawks Shootout.
Christina Cropper (Maryland Eastern Shore) captured second place in the long jump at the Seahawks Shootout and currently ranks 12th in the MEAC in the long jump. She assisted the Hawks by earning eight of the team’s 66 points.
Destiny Johnson (Florida A&M) won the 800-meter dash at the Clemson Opener.
Jaelen Leonard (Hampton) won three events including the long jump (18-9.75) in Hampton’s season opening meet at the CNU Holiday Open.
Jardon Omolo (Florida A&M) placed third in the weight throw at the Clemson Opener.
David Too (Florida A&M) posted the MEAC’s top time (4:13.34) in the mile run.
Jaelen Williams (Hampton) won two events with a first-place finish in the 600 and ran anchor on the winning mile relay team.
