EUGENE, Ore. – Hampton University seniors Ce’aira Brown and Trey Holloway competed in their final collegiate meet this past Wednesday and Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.
Holloway ran in the semifinals of the men’s 110-meter hurdles on Wednesday, turning in a 13.80. It was the 13th-fastest time overall, and Holloway finished fourth in his heat race.
The top two finishers in each heat, along with the two fastest times after that, advanced to the final.
Brown ran in the semifinals of the women’s 800-meter run on Thursday, coming in 20th overall after running a 2:07.35.
She was seventh in her heat race.
Though neither student-athlete reached the final of their respective event, both Brown and Holloway are likely to receive Second Team All-America honors when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announces the teams early next week.
This was Holloway’s fourth straight trip to the NCAA outdoor meet – the only Hampton track athlete to accomplish that feat – and he will build upon a 2015-16 season that saw him earn First Team All-America honors in the indoor 60-meter hurdles.
Brown, who was making her first trip to the NCAA outdoor meet since 2014, was a First Team All-American in the indoor 800-meter run earlier this year.
