PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Based on their efforts at the IC4A/ECAC Championships and all season long, Hawks junior Khalil Rmidi Kinini and sophomore Oussama Chouati will compete in the 2016 NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Florida. Both of them will race in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Friday night at approximately 9:30.
The event will be held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. Live results will be posted online daily.
Rmidi Kinini is a seasoned veteran of this meet. Last season, he ran the steeplechase with a time of 8:48.06 to break the school’s record. This year he earned a top time of 8:52.13 at the IC4A/ECAC Championships a couple of weeks ago. Chouati will be running in this meet for the first time. He earned qualification with his personal best time of 8:54.94 in the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
Juniors Mark Blackmon, Taj Showalter and Naje Benton all qualified for regionals as well but because of injuries or personal reasons, these athletes did not make the trip.
