Hampton Finishes Fourth At IC4A/ECAC Championships
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Hampton University men’s track & field team finished fourth in the 2016 IC4A Outdoor Championships, which were hosted by Princeton University this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Weaver Stadium.
The Pirates finished with 41 points. Morgan State won the meet with 68 points.
Senior Trey Holloway, fresh off his MEAC title in the 110-meter hurdles, won that event again this past weekend, taking the IC4A title after running a 13.94. Senior Ramoye Simon turned in a 14-19 in the final to finish third.
Holloway and Simon were also on the 4x100-meter relay team – along with Darrius Davis and sophomore Jasper Savoy – that finished sixth with a 41.44. They ran a season-best 40.65 in the preliminary heats to place sixth and advance to the final.
Savoy was also fifth in the 200-meter dash with a 23.86 – after running a season-best 21.59 in the preliminary heats.
He also ran a season-best 10.51 in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash.
Senior Sulaiman Fareed came in third in the shot put, tossing the implement 17.17 meters (56 feet, four inches), and sophomore Isaac Arriola was fifth in the triple jump at 14.75 meters (48 feet, 4.75 inches).
Redshirt junior Christian Faber-Kinney racked up 6,043 points to come in fifth in the decathlon.
Graduate student Siobhan Ford-Holland provided the Lady Pirates with their best finish on the women’s side, coming in sixth in the triple jump after leaping 11.86 meters (38 feet, 11 inches).
Sophomore Jayme Thomas was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.67 meters (18 feet, 7.25 inches).
The 2016 NCAA East Preliminary will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. May 28-30 to help set the field for the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 11-13 in Eugene, Ore.

MSU’s Howell Naps Two Titles as Bears Capture First-Ever IC4A Championship
PRINCETON, N.J. – One week after posting an eighth place finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships, the Morgan State men's track and field team rebounded with a historic victory on an even bigger stage.
The Bears finished with 68 points on the third and final day of the at the IC4A Outdoor Championship, claiming the team title by 11 points over second-place Cornell at Princeton's Weaver Stadium this weekend. It marked Morgan State’s first-ever IC4A Outdoor Championship.
LIU Brooklyn finished in third place with 55 points, followed by Hampton (4th, 41 pts) and Princeton (38.33 pts).
The first of Sunday's (May 15) titles came from Deyvon Howell who edged out teammate Desean White to win the 100-meters. Howell crossed the finish line with a time of 10.63, while White came in second place with a 10.66.
Less than two hours later, Howell would also take first place in the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 21.11, this time finishing in front of Bear teammate Desean White who placed second with a 21.31.
By himself, Howell earned 20 total points for the team this weekend.
The men’s relay teams also turned in solid performances on the final day. The 4x400-meter relay team, which featured Evan Johnson, Stephen Varella, Donovan St. Louis and was anchored by Joel Roberson, finished second in 3:12.51.
The men’s 4x100-meter relay team comprised of Fonyi Agendia, Desean White, Deyvon Howell and Joel Roberson ran a 40.64, good enough for fourth place.
The Bears also got points from in the 400-meter dash where Joel Roberson turned in a second place time of 46.66. Evan Johnson also posted a second place finish by recording a time of 52.15 in the 400-meter hurdles.

UMES’ Blackmon Wins 800 to Highlight Hawks’ Sunday in Princeton
PRINCETON, N.J. — Despite only being a member of the team for two months, junior Mark Blackmon comes back from Princeton as the only member of the Maryland Eastern Shore track & field team to win an event at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
The convert from the basketball team won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:49.84 over a field of five competitors. On Saturday he took fourth out of a field of 57 to qualify for today’s finals. Blackmon is now in possession of the top five times for the Hawks in the 800, and he came within eight tenths of a second of the school record, set by Jason Mayers in 2001.
Overall the Hawks secured 37 points at the meet, with a sizeable portion of those points scored on Sunday. JuniorShauntel Lucius took third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.22 meters, and classmate Khalil Rmidi Kinini finished seventh in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:52.84. After earning qualification in the prelims and semifinal rounds, junior Taj Showalter finished eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.91 seconds.
The meet was capped off by the Maryland Eastern Shore women’s 4x400 relay team, who finished third with a time of 3:46.90. Freshmen Luan Gabriel, Lenneisha Gilbert and Alicia Colson joined junior Rachel Halmon to comprise the team.
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Morgan State won the men’s portion of the meet while Cornell won the women’s meet.
As of right now, Rmidi Kinini and sophomore Oussama Chouati already qualified to compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville later this month. It will be determined within the next couple of days whether any of their teammates will join them.

Relerford, Wulff-Cochrane Highlights DSU’s Performance at the IC4A/ECAC Championships
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Delaware State track & field program wrapped up the IC4A/ECAC Championships over the weekend, hosted by the Princeton Tigers, highlighted by the performances from senior standouts Rayanna Relerford and Charles Wulff-Cochrane.
For Relerford, who has been arguably DSU’s best performer on the women’s side throughout 2015-16, clocked a 54.73 to finish fourth in the 400-Meter Dash. Relerford’s qualifying performance featured a time of 54.62, whereas her outing in the finals added five points to the Hornets’ team total. Last week during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships, the Bloomfield, Conn., native brought home the 400-Meter Dash bronze medal with a season-best time of 54.57.
In the case of Wulff-Cochrane, he finished fourth (52.20) in the 400-Meter Hurdles qualifying round with his fastest time of the season. He later followed that up by placing third in the finals with a time of 52.47, resulting in adding six points to DSU’s team total. Wulff-Cochrane garnered Outstanding Performance honors by the IC4A Track & Field Coaches Association as a member of the All-Eastern championship squad, in addition to qualifying for next week’s NCAA Regional competition in Jacksonville, Fla.

NCCU’s McClam Wins Long Jump at N.C. A&T State Last Chance Meet
GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior Joshua McClam took advantage of the North Carolina A&T State Aggie Last Chance Meet on Sunday (May 15) by posting a career-best leap of 7.71 meters (25’ 3.5”) to win the men’s long jump event and secure a spot in the upcoming NCAA Division I East Regional Championship.
A native of Holly Springs, North Carolina, McClam bettered his season’s previous best jump of 7.46m (24’ 5.75”) by nearly 10 inches, moving him up to No. 16 on the NCAA Division I East Region qualifying list. The top 48 qualifiers advance to the NCAA East Regional Championship on May 26-28 in Jacksonville, Florida, hosted by the University of North Florida.
The top 24 finishers in each event at the regional meet will advance to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championship meet on June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. Since reclassifying to NCAA Division I, NCCU has not had a student-athlete compete in the national championship event.
