MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

NORFOLK, Va.Maryland Eastern Shore junior Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Morgan State junior Shenel Crooke were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Naje Benton and Hampton’s Kaitlin Scott were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Kinini (Jr., Malaga Spain) defeated 72 athletes at the VertKlasse Meeting. He won the 5,000m run with a time of 14:41.16

Crooke (Jr., Basseterre, St. Kitts) competed in two events at the Tiger Twilight. She placed first in both, the 100m dash (11.83) and the 200m (24.48).

Benton (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) took first place in the long jump at the VertKlasse Meeting. His distance of 7.53m set a new meet record.

Scott (Fr., Richmond, Va.) notched her first collegiate win at the Colonial Relays. She won in the high jump with a leap of 1.60m (5-3 ft.)

 

Other Top Performers:

Isaac Arriola (HAM) won the long jump, with a leap of 6.91m (22-8 ft.), at the Colonial Relays.

Ce’Aira Brown (HAM) broker her own school record in the 800m run, with a time of 2:02.82, at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

India Brown (NCAT) beat her previous school record in the 200m dash, with a time of 23.26, at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

Nicovia Carter (UMES) set a new collegiate high in the shot put, with a distance of 13.12m, at the VertKlasse Meeting.

Kristen Deacon (CSU) recorded two second-place finishes in the shot put and the discus throw, at the Tiger Twilight.

Justin Hamilton (NCAT) finished second in the 4x4 relays, at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

Michael James (CSU) earned the second-fastest time in the MEAC (1:49.21), at the Pepsi Florida Relays, in the 800m run.

Tristie Johnson (B-CU) posted two first-place finishes, in the 100m dash and the 200m dash, at the Embry-Riddle Spikes.

Jonathan Moore (B-CU) took second-place in the 800m run, at the Embry-Riddle Spikes.

Rayanna Relerford (DSU) placed sixth in the 400m dash, at the Colonial Relays.

Taejah Robertson (NSU) set a new personal record in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14.10, at the Colonial Relays.

Markiara Staten (NCCU) set a new career-best mark in the 200m, with a time of 24.69, at the VertKlasse Meeting

Steven Thomas (CSU) notched a first-place finish in the hammer throw, with a measure of 43.71m, at the Tiger Twilight.

Dypna Umunakwe (UMES) took first place in the 4x400, with a time of 3:49.37, at the VertKlasse.

Akassja White (B-CU) won the discus throw, at the Embry-Riddle Spikes, with a toss of 40.11m.

Ed’Ricus Williams (B-CU) garnered a first-place finish in the high jump, with a leap of 7-03.00 ft. (2.21m), at the Embry-Riddle Spikes.

Tanya Yarde (CSU) registered the top time in the MEAC (1:00.33), in the 400m hurdles, after competing in the Pepsi Florida Relays.
