MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Morgan State’s Onyx Johnson and Shenel Crooke were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Chris Collins, of Bethune-Cookman, and Kiara Howell, of Norfolk State, were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Johnson (Jr., Washington, D.C.) took first place in two events at the Legacy Track Meet. He won the 800m, with a time of 1:50.34, and was a member of the winning 4x400m team.

Crooke (Jr., Basseterre, St. Kitts) competed in three events at the Legacy Track Meet. She won the 100m dash with a time of 11.48 and finished second in the 200m, while helping the 4x100m team to a second-place finish.

Collins (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) won the javelin throw, at the Tom Jones Memorial meet, with a distance of 58.44m. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the MEAC for that event.

Howell (Sr., Chesapeake, Va.) finished first in two events at the Legacy Track Meet. She won the shot put, with a toss of 13.67, and the javelin throw, with a distance of 41.34m. She also set a personal record in the hammer throw (44.98m), with her second-place finish.

 

Other Top Performers:

Ronaldo Ball (CSU) ran a personal best in the 1,500m (3:57.22) at the Legacy Track Meet.

Ce’aira Brown (HAM) registered a first-place finish in the 5,000m (18:03.00), at the Legacy Track Meet.

Trey Clark (HAM) notched a first-place finish, at the Legacy Track Meet, in the pole vault with a distance of 4.10m.

Haileyesus Demsie (NSU) set a personal record in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:45.88), at the Legacy Track Meet.

Michael Dickson (NCAT) ranks No. 10 in the nation, in the 110m hurdles (13.67), after his performance at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Shane Green (CSU) notched a personal best, at the Legacy Track Meet, in the triple jump (15.62m).

Breana Hagwood (CSU) recorded personal bests in the 100m hurdles (14.62) and the 400m hurdles (1:07.69), at the Legacy Track Meet.

Da’Trail Hockaday (NSU) set a new personal record, at the Legacy Track Meet, in the discus throw (44.71m).

Trey Holloway (HAM) won the 110m hurdles, with a time of 13.86, at the Legacy Track Meet.

Tristie Johnson (B-CU) took eighth place, at the Tom Jones Memorial, in the 200m.

Tyrika Lee (NSU) set personal records in the 100m dash (11.98) and the 200m (24.27), at the Legacy Track Meet.

Malik Lewis (B-CU) earned a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles, at the Tom Jones Memorial.

Jailah Mason (MSU) won the high jump, with a leap of 1.83m, at the Legacy Track Meet.

Joshua McClaim (NCCU) placed second in the long jump, with a leap of 7.28m, at the Duke Invitational.

Quamecha Morrison (B-CU) won the high jump, at the Tom Jones Memorial, with a distance of 1.75m.

Khemani Roberts (CSU) placed first in the women’s heptathlon, at the Legacy Track Meet.

Kayla White (NCAT) ranks No. 1 in the MEAC, in the 100m hurdles (13.37), after her performance at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
