MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Morgan State’s Shenel Crooke were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Dolphurs Hayes of Savannah State and Deandra Daniel of Coppin State were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Kinini (Jr., Malaga, Spain) placed first, at the Hampton Relays, in the 1,500m run, with a time of 3:59.83. He defeated 25 other runners in that event to capture the top spot.

Crooke (Jr., Basseterre, St. Kitts) took first place in two events at the Rice Twilight Meet. She won the 100m dash, with a time of 11.79, and set a new personal record in the 200m, with a time of 24.10.

Hayes (Sr., Albany, Ga.) won the pole vault at the Lowcountry Collegiate. His distance of 4.57m (15-0 ft.) set a season-best record in the MEAC.

Daniel (Sr., Gasparillo, Trinidad and Tobago) notched her second first-place win of the outdoor season at the Hampton Relays. She won the high jump with a leap of 1.73m.

 

Other Top Performers:

Nigel Brown (SSU) recorded a second-place finish in the 200m at the Lowcountry Collegiate.

Regyn Davis-Young (UMES) set collegiate-bests in the shot put (13.22m), discus throw (35.70m) and hammer throw (35.17m), at the New Captains Classic.

Rico Duncan (UMES) recorded collegiate-bests in the discus throw (45.36m) and the hammer throw (44.72m), at the New Captains Classic.

Shane Green (CSU) garnered a first-place finish in the triple jump (15.25m), at the Hampton Relays, with a season-best jump.

Breana Hagwood (CSU) placed sixth in the 400m hurdles at the Hampton Relays.

Michael James (CSU) notched a first-place finish in the 800m (1:50.93), at the Hampton Relays.

Shelasia Leitch (UMES) won both the preliminary and final events for the 100m hurdles, at the Hampton Relays.

Joshua McClam (NCCU) posted a career-best in the 100m dash, at the Hampton Relays, with a time of 10.70.

Jahmee Reeves (SSU) finished first in the 400m, with a time of 55.65, at the Lowcountry Collegiate.

Rayanna Relerford (DSU) earned a second-place finish, at the Hampton Relays, in the 400m.

Victoria Wilson (DSU) took seventh place in the shot put, at the Hampton Relays.
