MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. North Carolina A&T State junior Christopher Belcher and North Carolina Central freshman Miaysha Bryant were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Bethune-Cookman’s Ed’Ricus Williams and Hampton’s Jayme Thomas were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Belcher (Jr., Sayville, N.Y.) completed in three events at the Aggie Invitational. He took first place in both the 200m, with a time of 21.45, and the 4x100 relay.

Bryant (Fr., Winston-Salem, N.C.) won the 200m for the second straight week. She defeated 32 sprinters, at the Aggie Invitational, with a time of 25.37.

Williams (r-Jr., Warrenton, Ga.) placed first, at the Hurricane Alumni Invite, in the high jump with a leap of 2.14m. He is currently ranked fourth in the NCAA, and first in the MEAC, for that event.

Thomas (So., Hampton, Va.) took first place in the long jump and triple jump (11.67m) at the Don Webster Invitational. She jumped a season-best 5.76m in the long jump.

 

Other Top Performers:

Fanta Ba (DSU) recorded a fourth-place finish, at the Don Webster Invitational, in the triple jump.

Mark Blackmon (UMES) won his collegiate debut, with a time of 15:36.32 in the 5,000m run, at the Don Webster Invitational.

Jaszmine Bowman (NCCU) notched her first-career outdoor win in the shot put, with a toss of 11.80m, at the Aggie Invitational.

India Brown (NCAT) posted two first-place finishes, in the 100m dash (11.78) and the 4x100 relay (46.66), at the Aggie Invitational.

Summer Brown (B-CU) set a new personal record in the long jump, with a leap of 5.79m, at the Hurricane Alumni Invite.

Nicovia Carter (UMES) notched a new collegiate best in the shot put, with a distance of 13.35m, at the Don Webster Invitational.

Omealla Gordon (DSU) placed third in the 800m, at the Don Webster Invitational.

Rachel Halmon (UMES) finished first in the 1500m, at the Don Webster Invitational, with a time of 5:00.97.

Jonathan Jones (DSU) garnered a first-place finish in the 400m dash, with a time of 49.48, at the Don Webster Invitational.

Christian Obame (NCCU) registered a first-place win, at the Aggie Invitational, in the discus throw, with a distance of 42.72m.

Catoria Sirmon (B-CU) placed third in the shot put, at the Hurricane Alumni Invite.

Xavier Wlaton (B-CU) set two personal records in the 1500m run (4:03.77) and the 5000m run (15:08.60), at the Hurricane Alumni Invite.

Desean White (MSU) won the 200m dash, at the Don Webster Invitational, with a time of 22.56.
