FAMU Women Snare Seven Firsts At SSU Twilight

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The FAMU Women’s Track Team recorded seven first place finishes at the Tiger Twilight Track Invitational on the Ted Wright Track at Savannah State Wednesday evening.

FAMU got two firsts each from Ashley Ivey (100 Meter Hurdles, Triple Jump), and Andrea Aaron (Hammer Throw, Javelin), along with top finishes from QuanDra Shanks (1500 Meters), Effiey Kosgei (3000 Meter Steeplechase); and Alexadria Marshall Paul (Discus).

The Rattler Women will vie for honors in the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Friday and Saturday.

On the men’s side, the Rattlers posted 18 Top 10 finishes Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah State University Tiger Twilight Invitational here at Ted Wright Stadium.

Jocari Beattie (High Jump) and Dennis McGee (Shot Put) took firsts in their respective events. McGee also finished second in the Discus Throw, and third in the Hammer Throw.

Michael Poole finished fifth in the Long Jump and seventh in the 100 meter dash, while running the first leg on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams which each finished second.
