NORFOLK, Va. — Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Oussama Chouati and Bethune-Cookman senior Tristie Johnson were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Naje Benton and Bethune-Cookman’s Akassja White were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.
Chouati (So., Manresa, Spain) won the opening race of the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open. He finished first in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:13.39.
Johnson (Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) placed first at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge. She won the 100m dash with a time of 11.68.
Benton (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) took second place in the triple jump at the Wake Forest Open. His jump of 15.06m set a new collegiate best.
White (So., Miami, Fla.) competed in two events at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge. She won the discus throw (37.64m) and took third in the shot put (13.01m).

Elijah Agwu (DSU) won the discus throw, with a toss of 46.96m, at the VCU Ram Invitational.
Nigel Brown (SSU) ran the fastest time in the MEAC, in the 200m dash (21.55), at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
Zoe Ellis (NCCU) recorded a second-place finish in the triple jump and placed fifth in the long jump, at the Carolina Relays.
Deandre James (NCCU) won the 800m run, with a time of 1:56.12, at the Carolina Relays.
Shelasia Leitch (UMES) broke the school record in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 13.85, at the Wake Forest Open.
Malik Lewis (B-CU) finished third, in the 110m hurdles, at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge.
Shauntel Lucius (UMES) took second place, at the Wake Forest Open, in the triple jump.
Joshua McClam (NCCU) recorded a first-place finish in the long jump, with a leap of 7.22m, at the Carolina Relays.
Roselyn Oroyemi (DSU) finished third in the 100m dash at the VCU Ram Invitational.
Michael Tiller (B-CU) garnered a first-place finish in the triple jump, at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge.
Bethany White (NCCU) placed second in the 100m dash and the 4x100 relay, at the Carolina Relays.
Charles Wulff-Cochrane (DSU) posted a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 53.91, at the VCU Ram Invitational.
