NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central sophomore Deontae Williams and junior Santese Pryor were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today. North Carolina Central’s Zoe Ellis was named the MEAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Williams (So., Tampa, Fla.) won the 100m, at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, with a career-best time of 10.63 seconds, which is tied for fifth best in NCAA Division I this season. He was a part of the winning 4x100 relay team, which won in 41.51 seconds.
Pryor (Jr., Durham, N.C.) won the 200m, at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, by one one-thousandths of a second (25.451) and was a part of the winning 4x100 relay team and second place 4x400 relay team.
Ellis (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) continued her momentum from winning the 2016 MEAC Indoor Triple Jump by claiming the triple jump at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, with a career-best leap of 12.43m, which leads NCAA Division I this season. Also, she placed fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.30m.
