SAVANNAH, Ga. –The Savannah State University men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field released its 2016 schedule that features four home meets in the outdoor season.
The indoor season started on Dec. 1 with the JDL meet in Greensboro, N.C. and the next meet for SSU is on Saturday at the USC Open #1 in Columbia, S.C. The Tigers return the next weekend with a two-day meet at the Blazer Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., from Jan. 15-16, before returning to Columbia, S.C., for the USC Open #2 on Jan. 20.
Four days later, SSU returns to North Carolina for the UNCG Spartan Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Jan. 24, followed by the last regular season indoor meet at ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn., on Feb. 5.
The postseason meet starts with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championship in Landover, Md., on Feb. 11 and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championship is held in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 12.
SSU starts the outdoor track and field season at home in Theodore A. Wright Stadium with the Savannah State Eyeopener on Feb. 20, Savannah State Relays on Feb. 27 and the Tiger Orange and Blue on March 5.
The Tigers head to South Carolina for the next two meets for the Shamrock Invitational on March 18 in Myrtle Beach and the Winthrop Invitational on March 25 in Rock Hill before return to Savannah for its final home meet of the season on March 30 for the SSU Twilight meet.
The next two meets, SSU travels to the Southeastern Conference country with a two-day meets in Gainesville, Fla., for the Florida Relays from April 1-2, and in Knoxville, Tenn., for the Tennessee Relays from April 8-9.
The Tigers finish the regular outdoor season with a meet in Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Relays. The postseason starts with the MEAC Outdoor Championship on May 5 in Greensboro, N.C., followed by the NCAA Outdoor East Region on May 26 in Jacksonville, Fla., and the NCAA National Outdoor Championship on June 8 in Eugene, Ore.
