MEAC ANNOUNCES INDOOR TRACK & FIELD WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton’s Trey Holloway and Ce’aira Brown were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Shane Green of Coppin State and Siobhan Ford-Holland of Hampton were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Holloway (Sr., Chesapeake, Va., Springs) posted a nation-best time of 7.82 in the semifinals of the 60m hurdles and finished first in the finals, with a time of 8.09, at the Father Diamond Classic. Also, Holloway reached ECAC IC4A qualification in the 60m hurdles and the 60m dash.  

Brown (Sr., Philadelphia, Pa., Mid-Distance) broke her own school record in the mile run to finish second at the Father Diamond Classic, with a time of 4:56.40. Also, she captured first in the 800m at 2:09.67.

Green (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y., Jumps) recorded a first-place finish in the triple jump at the Villanova Open. His leap of 14.96m was the second-highest mark in the MEAC this season.

Ford-Holland (Gr., Chester, Va., Jumps) won the triple jump, with a mark of 11.99m (39-4 ft.), at the Father Diamond Classic. Also, she finished fourth in the long jump at 5.56m (18-3 ft.).

Other Top Performers: 

India Brown (NCAT) set a school record in the 60m, with a time of 7.35, at the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic.

Melissa Caddle-Hope (CSU) registered a top time of 55.77 in the 400m to capture first at the Father Diamond Classic.

Cynthia Chelelgo (FAMU) placed first at the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic in the 5000m, with a time of 17:42.53.

Steve Coles (NSU) set a personal-record in the 200m, with a time of 21.29, at the Penn State Relays.

Rico Duncan (UMES) captured first in the weight throw, with a toss of 15.71m (51-5 ft.), at the Villanova Open.

Justin Hamilton (NCAT) won the 200m, with a time of 21.63, at the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic.

Chris Lee (NSU) set a school record in the shot put, with a toss of 16.21m (53-2.25 ft.), at the Penn State Relays.

Tyrika Lee (NSU) ran a season best 7.68 in the 60m to finish second at the Penn State Relays.

Shelasia Leitch (UMES) posted a time of 8.77 to win the 60m hurdles at the Villanova Open.

Shauntel Lucius (UMES) placed third in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.78m (38-6 ft.). at the Villanova Open.

Khalil Rmidi Kinini (UMES) posted a first-place finish at the Villanova Open in the mile run, with a time of 4:15.96.
