TORONTO – Competing in her first career international competition, Christina Epps more than held her own at the 2015 Pan-Am Games Tuesday evening at CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium.
Epps, a 2014 Coppin State graduate, finished seventh overall. Her best effort of the competition was 13.85 meters. Battling windy conditions, Epps made Coppin proud with her performance.
“Christina made a name for herself and the USA women triple jumpers by just making the finals,” Coppin State head women’s track and field head coach Alecia Shields-Gadson said. “That was a feat within itself. This was her first international competition and I think she represented the USA well. We were fighting the wind and it was hard to get into rhythm but I'm still pleased with her performance. Back to the pit on Monday.”
Coppin State’s Deandra Daniel competes in the high jump Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. for her native country of Trinidad & Tobago.
