NORFOLK, Va. – South Carolina State’s Demek Kemp and Savannah State’s Asea Gilmore were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track Athletes of the week. Bethune-Cookman’s Barry Kimbrough and Darlene Girardeau of North Carolina Central were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Kemp (Sprints, Fr., Monroe, Ga.) set a career-best time of 10.25, by capturing a first-place victory in the 100m, at the Savannah State Tiger Twilight.
Gilmore (Sprints, Jr., Statesboro, Ga.) captured a first-place victory in the 800m, with a time of 2:15.26, at the Tiger Twilight. She also helped her team receive first place in the 4x400m relay, with a time of 4:11.34.
Kimbrough (Thrower, Sr., Waukegan, Ill.) recorded a first place victory in the shot put, with a mark of 15.31m (50.22 ft.), at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic. He also captured first-place in the discus, with a mark of 47.47m (155.7 ft.).
Girardeau (Jumper, So., Hope Mills, N.C.) finished first in the long jump, with a leap of 5.84m (19.16 ft.), at the High Point Vertklasse Meeting.

Treymane Banks (B-CU) registered a seventh-place team finish in the sprint medley, with a time of 3.23.18, in the Florida Relays.
Shaw Barfield (NSU) recorded a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, with a mark of 4.15m (13-07.25 ft.), at the Colonial Relays.
Summer Brown (B-CU) finished first in the 4x100 relay, with a time of 47.1, at Embry Riddle Spikes Classic.
Steve Coles (NSU) ran a personal-best in the 200m, with a time of 21.39, at the Colonial Relays.
Tiara Davis (NSU) cleared a personal-best in the pole vault, with a time of 3.35m (10-11.75 ft.), at the Colonial Relays.
Deidre Jordan (B-CU) garnered a second-place finish in the heptathlon, at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic.
Brittany McCants (NSU) recorded a second-place finish in the 100m, with a time of 11.84, at the Colonial Relays.
Marquis Noble (NCAT) finished in eighth in the long jump, with a mark of 7.14m (23-5.25 ft.), at the Florida Relays.
Dennis Pugh (FAMU) set a new school record in the 400H, with a time of 50.97, at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
Khalil Rmidi Kinini (UMES) broke the school record (his sixth) in the 3k Steeplechase, with a time of 9:04.36, to finish in second place, at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting.
Lemaar Shakir (SSU) finished in ninth in the sprint medley relay, with a time of 3:24.79, at the Florida Relays.
Jess St. John (MSU) registered a fourth-place finish in the shot put, with a mark of 15.68m (51-05.50 ft.), at the Florida Relays.
Dypna Umunakwe (UMES) finished third in the 200m, with a time of 24.47, at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting.
Darren White (NCAT) set a new school record in the 3k steeplechase, with a time of 9:19.34, at the Florida Relays.
