MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State’s Onyx Johnson and North Carolina Central’s Darlene Girardeau were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track Athletes of the week, the conference announced on Wednesday. North Carolina A&T State’s Keenan Smith and Jess St. John of Morgan State were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week.

Johnson (Sprints, So., Washington, D.C.) registered a time of 1:49.95 in the 800m to capture a first-place victory at the Morgan State Legacy. He also anchored the 4X400m relay team, with a time of 3:08.87, to earn the victory.

Girardeau (Sprints, So., Hope Mills, N.C.) recorded a time of 12.03 in the 100m, at the Elon Phoenix Invitational, to claim first. She also captured the long jump crown, with a distance of 5.73m (18-9 ft.).

Smith (Jumper, Sr., Richmond, Va.) won the triple-jump, with a season-best distance of 16.23m (53.25 ft.), at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

St. John (Thrower, Fr., St. John, Antigua) notched a victory in the shot put, at the Morgan State Legacy, with a distance of 14.94m (49.01 ft.).

 

Other Top Performers

Angelo Cabrera (B-CU) set a season-best time of 10.44 in the 100m, at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Nicovia Carter (UMES) recorded a career-best mark of 13.07m (42.88 ft.), in the shot put to place seventh, at the Morgan State Legacy.

Shenel Crooke (MSU) finished third in the 100m, with a time of 11.65, at the Morgan State Legacy.

Deandra Daniel (CSU) claimed a first-place finish in the high jump, with a height of 1.87m (6-0 ft.), at the Morgan State Legacy.

Kenneth Fisher (B-CU) won the long jump, at the Georgia Tech Invitational, with a distance of 7.39m (24-3 ft.).

Shawdae Frederick (CSU) ran a personal-best time of 14.68 in the 100m, at the Morgan State Legacy.

Allan Frye (NSU) recorded a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles, at the Morgan State Legacy, with a career-best time of 52.64.

Qizeah Jackson (NCAT) finished fourth in the 100m, at the Georgia Tech Invitational, with a time of 11.70.

Deandre James (NCCU) won the 800m, at the Elon Phoenix Invitational, with a time of 1:54.02.

Tristie Johnson (B-CU) claimed a first-place finish in the 100m, with a time of 11.52, at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Khalil Rmidi Kinini (UMES) registered a personal-best time of 14:07.08 in the 5000m, at the Virginia Challenge.

Shelasia Leitch (UMES) recorded a career-best time of 14.25, in the 100m hurdles, at the Virginia Challenge.

Chidi Okezie (Hampton) finished second in the 200m, with a season-best time of 21.59, at the Morgan State Legacy.

Le’Quisha Parker (Hampton) helped the Lady Pirate’s to a 4X400m win at the Morgan State Legacy, with a time of 3:40.50.

Desiree Richardson (B-CU) finished fifth in the shot put, with a mark of 14.36m (47-1.5ft.), at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Dillon Simon (UMES) set a career and school record in the shot put, with a distance of 19.87m (65.19 ft.), to finish second, at the Virginia Challenge.
