NCCU's Landy and Ellis win events at Coastal Carolina Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Christa Landy and Zoe Ellis won individual events during North Carolina Central University’s outdoor track & field season-opening meet, the Coastal Carolina Invitational, on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14 at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Landy, a junior from Salisbury, North Carolina, ran to victory in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 57.29 seconds, edging Olivia Behymer of Liberty University by four-tenths of a second (57.66).

Ellis, a sophomore out of Charlotte, North Carolina, won the women’s triple jump with a leap of 11.58 meters (38’00.00”).

Other top performers for NCCU were senior Amber Brooks in the 1500m run (2nd, 4:48.00), the women’s 4x400m relay squad of Santese Pryor, Landy, Sherae Holloway and Lovasia Thomas (2nd, 3:57.02), the men’s 4x200m relay squad of Bryan Jasmin, Carlton Edwards, Jr., Dominick Lemonious and Kevin Vincent (3rd, 1:29.73), Holloway in the women’s high jump (4th, 1.60m), Lemonious in the men’s 110m hurdles (4th, 15.23), Vincent in the men’s 400m hurdles (4th, 54.86), the men’s 4x100m relay unit of Joshua McClam, Deonte Williams, Justin Trotman and Jonathon Williams (4th, 42.40), the women’s 4x200m squad of Landy, Thomas, Regina Summerville and Shaina Nicely (4th, 1:42.10), and the men’s 4x800m relay team of Deandre James, Jedrek Higgins, Orane Morais and Greg Coward (4th, 8:07.92).

NCCU returns to the track on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21 at the Wake Forest University Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
