NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton’s Jasper Savoy and Morgan State’s Shenel Crooke were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Naje Benton and Regyn Davis-Young were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.
Savoy (Sr., Brandywine, Md., Sprints) won the 200m at the Navy Invitational, with a time of 21.88. Also, he ran 6.93 in the 60m to record a second-place finish.
Crooke (Jr., Basseterre, St. Kitts, Sprints) captured first in the 60m (7.67) and 200m (25.30) at the season-opening Navy Lifter. Also, she was a member of the 4x400 relay team, which ran a time of 4:19.96.
Benton (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa., Jumps) recorded a collegiate-best leap of 7.29m to win the long jump at the UMES Lid-Lifter. Also, he won the triple jump with a mark of 14.29m.
Davis-Young (So., Lanham, Md., Throws) registered personal-bests in the shot put and weight throw at the UMES Lid-Lifter. She won the weight throw with a toss of 14.59m (47.86ft) and placed second in the shot put, with a mark of 12.60m (41.33ft).

Ce’aira Brown (HAM) captured first in the mile, with a time of 5:03.33, at the Christopher Newport Holiday Open.
Jaylen Carr (NSU) won the 200m at the Christopher Newport Invitational, with a time of 22.30.
Jennaya Hield (UMES) secured a victory in the mile, with a time of 5:26.86, at the UMES Lid-Lifter.
Benisha Johnson (FAMU) threw a personal-best distance of 15.94m in the weight throw at the Birmingham Southern College Ice Breaker.
Judith Kibii (FAMU) ran a personal-best time of 10:16.41 in the 3,000m to finish second at the Birmingham Southern College Ice Breaker.
Chris Lee (NSU) finished first in the shot put, falling just six inches away from the school record, with a toss of 16.05m (52-8ft) at the Christopher Newport Invitational.
Tyrika Lee (NSU) registered a first-place finish in the 200m, with a time of 25.63, at the Christopher Newport Invitational.
Jordan Leon (CSU) won the 800m (1:58.00) and second in the mile (4:19.03) at the UMES Lid-Lifter.
Ke’von Lumb (MSU) placed first in the long jump, at the Navy Lid-Lifter, with a leap of 5.48m (18-01.50ft).
Dennis Pugh (FAMU) finished second in the 60m hurdles, with a time of 8.09, at the Birmingham Southern College Ice Breaker.
