NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Morgan State’s Ishakeema Swain were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Naje Benton and Evelyn Chappell were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Kinini (So., Malaga, Spain, Distance) broke a three-year school record in the mile run, finishing first, with a time of 4:13.08 at the Coach O Invitational.
Swain (Sr., Neptune, N.J., Distance) captured first in the mile run and the 3,000-meter run at the Coach O Invitational. She ran the mile in a time of 5:26.44 and the 3,000-meter run in 11:07.16.
Benton (So., Philadelphia, Pa., Jumps) won the triple jump, with a leap of 14.71 meters, at the Coach O Invitational.
Chappell (So., Bowie, Md., Jumps) finished first at the Coach O Invitational by tying a personal-best mark of 1.56 meters in the high jump.
Other Top Performers:
Ke’von Lumb (MSU) won the 60-meter dash at the Coach O Invitational with a time of 7.70 seconds.
Dypna Umunawke (UMES) captured first in the 200 meters, with a time of 25.85 seconds, and helped her 4X400 relay team finish first at the Coach O Invitational.
