BLACKSBURG, Va. – After day one of the Hokie Invitational the Aggies had two first-place finishes along with many athletes finishing within the top-10.
Sophomore Maurice Eaddy won the men’s 60 meter dash running a personal-best 6.67. Senior Keenan Smith also won the men’s triple jump at 51-feet, 7-inches.
Sophomore Joshua Peoples placed third behind Eaddy with a personal-best 6.82. Sophomore Todd Townsend made his season’s debut in the 60 meter hurdles finishing eighth at 8.91.
On the women’s side freshman Sloan Williams finished second in the women’s 60 meter dash running a personal-best 7.50. Freshman Qizeah Jackson placed fifth at 7.56, while senior Latrese Barker finished eighth at 7.73. Freshman Morgan Knight finished fifth in the women’s 60 meter hurdles at 8.65.
In the field events, sophomore Francesca Evans placed second in the women’s triple jump with a personal best jump of 39-feet, 5-inches.
The Virginia Tech Invitational will resume Saturday at 11 a.m.
