MEAC Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va.– Hampton’s Edose Ibadin and Bethune-Cookman’s Tristie Johnson were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Dillon Simon of Maryland Eastern Shore and Deandra Daniel of Coppin State were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Ibadin (Distance, Sr., Glendale, Md.) accounted for 28 points in helping the Pirates win the Terrapin Invitational. He won the distance medley, with a time of 10:43.30, and finished second in the 300m in 36.02. Ibadin also helped the 4x400 reach IC4A qualifying standards.

Johnson (Sprints, Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.) swept the 60m and 200m at the East Tennessee State Invitational. She set a career-best in the 60m dash, with a time of 7.42, and ran 23.94 in the 200m.

Simon (Thrower, Sr., Roseau, Dominica) finished first out of 58 competitors in the shot put with a toss of 18.89m at the Gotham Cup.

Daniel (Jumps, Jr., Trinidad and Tobago) soared 1.83m (6-0 ft.) to set a school record in the high jump at the Winston-Salem State Open. She established season-best marks in the long jump at 11.37m (37-03.75 ft.) and triple jump at 11.37m (37-03.75 ft.).

Fonyi Agendia (MSU) won the 60m dash at the Terrapin Invitational with a time of 6.92.

Tremayne Banks (B-CU) captured first in the 60m hurdles, with a time of 8.01, at the East Tennessee State Invitational.

Ce’aira Brown (HAM) finished first in the 600m, with a time of 1:33.21, at the Terrapin Invitational.

India Brown (NCAT) placed second in the 200m, at the East Tennessee State Invitational, with a time of 24.28.

Alexis Dailey (UMES) registered a personal-best toss of 15.43m in the weight throw at the Gotham Cup.

Kenneth Fisher (B-CU) won the long jump, with a leap of 7.28m (23-10.75 ft.), at the East Tennessee State Invitational.

Brianna Hayes (NSU) finished first in the high jump, with a season-best height of 1.70m (5-7 ft.), at the UNC Open.

Ashley Ivey (FAMU) won the 60m hurdles, with a time of 8.82, at the North Carolina Open.

Michael Johnson (UMES) set a personal-best time of 49.49 in the 400m at the Gotham Cup.

Diedra Jordan (B-CU) registered a first-place finish in the long jump, with a leap of 5.78m (18-11.75 ft.), at the East Tennessee State Invitational.

Jheniel Kelly (UMES) ran a personal-best time of 5:12.97, in the mile run, at the Gotham Cup.

David Kibet (NSU) ran a season-best time of 16:10.64 to win the 5,000m at the UNC Open.

Desmond Lawrence (NCAT) won the 60m dash, with a time of 6.70, at the East Tennessee State Invitational.

Chris Lee (NSU) threw a personal-best 16.02m (52-9.5 ft.) to finish second in the shot put at the UNC Open.

Imani McGhee (NCAT) finished second at the East Tennessee State Invitational in the long jump with a leap of 18-7.25 ft.

Robert Mercer (HOW) posted a career-best 4.65m (15-3 ft.) in the pole vault at the Gotham Cup.

Marquis Noble (NCAT) recorded a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 22-9 ft. at the East Tennessee State Invitational.

Camry Torian (CSU) ran a season-best time of 26.03 in the 200m at the Winston-Salem State Open.
