MEAC ANNOUNCES INDOOR TRACK & FIELD WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Hampton’s Le’Quisha Parker were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Dillon Simon and Bethune-Cookman’s Desiree Richardson were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Kinini (So., Malaga, Spain, Distance) broke a nine-year old school record by winning the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:26.94 at the Navy Invitational. The previous record was held by Alfred Sinogei (2006) in 14:47.95.

Parker (Sr., Silver Spring, Md. Sprints and Relays) earned a pair of first-place finishes at the Gene Anderson Invitational. She won the 60m-dash in 7.59 and 200m-dash in 24.62. Parker was also a member of the 4x400 relay team, which finished first at the Gene Anderson Invitational and Joe Hilton Open.

Simon (Sr., Roseau, Dominica, Thrower) reset his own school record in the shot put by beating his previous mark (18.81 meters) with a toss of 19.03 at the Navy Invitational.

Richardson (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn., Thrower) placed first in the shot put at the Gene Anderson Invitational (14.77m) and won the weight throw at the Joe Hilton Open (16.09m).

 

Other Top Performers: 

Cheyenne Bellerand (HOW) met MEAC/ECAC qualifying standards in the shot put with a toss of 13.90m at the Father Diamond Invitational.

Joseph Boyd (NSU) placed second at the Penn State Relays with a mark of 2.01m in the high jump.

India Brown (NCAT) finished second in the 200 meters, with a time of 24.72, at the Orange and Purple Classic.

Ricy Brown (B-CU) won the mile with a time of 4:24.92 at the Joe Hilton Open.

Melissa Caddle-Hope (CSU) placed second in the 200 meters at the Father Diamond Invitational with a time of 25.35.

Tarik Cohen (NCAT) captured a first-place finish in the 200 meters at the Orange and Purple Classic.

Tere Cooley (MSU) finished second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:17.45 at the Wake Forest Invitational.

Deandra Daniel (CSU) captured first place with a leap of 1.81 meters in the high jump at the Father Diamond Invitational.

Tanise Edwards (UMES) finished first with a personal-best mark of 1.65 meters in the high jump at the Navy Invitational.

Shantol Hemley (UMES) recorded a third-place finish in the 500 meters at the Navy Invitational with a time of 8.31.

Edose Ibadin (HAM) captured first in the 400 meters, with a time 50.60, at the Gene Anderson Invitational.

Jailah Mason (MSU) won the high jump at the Wake Forest Invitational with a mark of 1.70m (5-07.00 ft.).

Robert Mercer (HOW) finished third at the Father Diamond Invitational in the pole vault with a mark of 4.45m.

Sherri Owens (NCAT) placed fourth at the Orange and Purple Classic in the weight throw with a toss of 46-6.74 ft.

Frank Quarles (NCAT) recorded a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 24-3ft. at the Orange and Purple Classic.

Nyajock Pan (B-CU) won the mile run, with a time of 5:22.29, at the Gene Anderson Invitational.

Michael Tiller (B-CU) placed in second in the high jump, with a mark of 1.98m, at the Joe Hilton Open.

Jazmine Vaughn (NSU) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.73, at the Penn State Relays.
