BRITISH COLUMBIA, Canada – North Carolina Central University track and field head coach Michael Lawson has been selected as a member of the USA Track and Field (USATF) National Team Staff for the 2014 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 International Athletics Championships from Aug. 8-10 in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
Entering his 25th season as head coach at NCCU, Lawson is no stranger to the NACAC Under 23 Championships. In 2008, Lawson was the assistant sprint coach for the men’s and women’s teams in Mexico. In 2010, he led the USA men’s team to 37 medals as head coach when the event was held in Miramar, Fla. This time, Lawson will serve as Event Manager as part of the USATF National Team Staff.
The three-day competition will feature athletes from 31 nations, including from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Island, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United States.
