EUGENE, Ore. – Hampton University sophomore Trey Holloway finished eighth in the final of the men’s 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field, all but assuring him of All-America honors.
Holloway ran a 13.91 in Saturday’s final, after turning in a season-best 13.70 in the preliminary heats on Thursday.
He’ll earn All-America honors for the second straight year.
The Pirates 4x400-meter relay team – senior Je’Von Hutchison, junior Chidi Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.), graduate student Paris Reddick-Simmons, and junior Edose Ibadin ran a 3:07.68 in the prelims, finishing fifth in their heat.
Hutchison was seventh in his preliminary heat in the 400-meter dash with a 46.97.
Senior Stefano Nardini threw the javelin 63.14 meters (207 feet, two inches), coming in 10th in his flight.
On the women’s side, sophomore Ce’aira Brown ran a 2:05.01 to come in third in her preliminary heat of the 800-meter run, while junior Le’Quisha Parker ran a 23.85 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash, coming in seventh in her heat.
All of those student-athletes are also likely to receive All-America honors.
Eight Pirates have earned All-America status in the program’s Div. I era, while 21 Lady Pirates have been honored. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association will officially announce All-Americans – First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention – early in the week.
