NORFOLK, Va. – Howard’s Giovanni Mowatt and Hampton’s Ce’aira Brown were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Dillon Simon and Hampton’s Teiara Denmark were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Mowatt (Jr., Negril, Jamaica) captured the 800m, with a time of 1:53.49, at the Patriot Games. Mowatt ran the second leg on the 4x800 relay, which won the event (8:04.39), and ran the third leg of the victorious 4x400 relay, in 3:21.30.
Brown (So, Philadelphia, Pa.) won the 800m, with a time of 2:09.26, at the Penn State National Invitational. Brown helped set season bests in the 4x400 relay (3:40.95) and distance medley relay (11:51.01).
Simon (Jr., Pottersville, Dominica) set the school record in the shot put at 18.81m at the Columbia Invitational to beat Kimani Korton’s distance of 18.72m in 2007.
Denmark (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) won the long jump at the Penn State National Invitational with a leap of 6.11m (20-0.50 ft.). Denmark also reached ECAC qualification and set a season-best in the triple jump at 12.51m (41-0.50 ft.).

Tremayne Banks (BCU) finished first in the 200m at the Southern Miss Invitational with a time of 21.81.
Barry Bethea (SCSU) won the 200m, with a time of 22.40, at the Bob Pollock Classic.
Roshel Bygrave (NCAT) finished sixth in the 400m, with a time of 56.69, at the Penn State National Invitational.
Gayon Evans (UMES) met IC4A qualification in the 60m dash and 200m at the Columbia Invitational.
Nakita Gray (NCAT) captured first in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.5 ft. at the Penn State National Invitational.
La’Quan Howard (BCU) won the triple jump, with a leap of 14.67m (48-01.75 ft.) at the Southern Miss Invitational.
Chandelic Jackson (FAMU) ran 2:16.07 to place second in the 800m at the Bob Pollock Classic.
Tristie Johnson (BCU) won the 200m at the Southern Miss Invitational, with a time of 24.77, and place second at the Bob Pollock Classic.
Deidra Jordan (BCU) placed fourth in the high jump at the Southern Miss Invitational and fifth in the high jump at the Bob Pollock Classic.
Desmond Lawrence (NCAT) finished third in the 60m dash at the Penn State National Invitational, with a time of 6.74.
Robert Mercer (Howard) competed in the heptathlon at the Patriot Games, placing second with 4,627 points.
Frank Quarles (NCAT) placed sixth in the long jump at the Penn State National Invitational.
Michael Wamer (SCSU) finished first out of 14 competitors in the triple jump at 15.25m (50-00.50 ft.) at the Bob Pollock Classic.
