MEAC Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Kinnini and Hampton’s  Breana Norman  were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Bethune-Cookman’s Ed’Ricus Williams and Coppin State’s Christina Epps were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Kinnini (Fr., Malaga, Spain) won the 3,000m, with a time of 8:31.25, at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational. The finish is Kinnini’s second win of the indoor season, beating his previous time by 28 seconds.

 Norman (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) set a season best time in the 4x200 relay, coming in third, with a time of 1:38.80, and second in the 60m hurdles (8.31) at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational.

Williams (Fr., Warrenton, Ga.) finished third in the high jump, with a leap of 2.06m (6-09.00 ft.), which was a career best for Williams at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational.

Epps (Sr., Morristown, N.J.) won the triple jump at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational, with a leap of 13.16m (43-2.25 ft.). Epp’s is currently top triple jumper in MEAC and among ECAC qualifiers.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Tremayne Banks (BCU) finished second in the 60m hurdles at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational.

Teiara Denmark (Hampton) won the long jump, with a leap of 6.26m (20-06.50 ft.), setting a school indoor record at the Armory Invitational.

Gayon Evans (UMES) finished third in the 60m, with a time of 7.41, at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational, met qualifications for IC4A and ECAC.

Chidi Okezie (Hampton) placed second in the 4x400 relay, with a time of 3:10.75 at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational.

Breonca Reid (BCU) placed eighth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.66m (18-07.00ft.) at the Collegiate New Balance Armory Invitational.
