MEAC Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State’s Desean White and Coppin State’s Melissa Caddle-Hope were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Dillon Simon and Alexis Daley were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

White (Fr., Baltimore, Md., Sprints) swept the 60m and 200m in personal-best times of 6.84 and 21.92 at the Navy Invitational. Both times met IC4A qualifying standards.

Caddle-Hope (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y., Sprints) won the 200m in 24.98 and 400m in 56.81 at the Christopher Newport Captains Invitational, and earned MEAC qualifying standards. She was third at the event with 119 points.

Simon (Sr., Roseau, Dominica, Thrower) set a field house record at the Navy Invitational in the shot put at 18.38m, eclipsing the mark of UMES alum Tyler Blatchley (2012). He also captured first in the weight throw with a toss of 19.30m.

Daley (So., Huntingtown, Md., Thrower) set personal-bests in the shot put at 12.34m and weight throw at 15.30m at the Navy Invitational. She won the weight throw and finished third in the shot put.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Cheyenne Bellerand (HOW) captured first in the shot put, with a toss of 41-1.0 ft., at the Princeton Invitational.

David Conner (NCAT) placed second in the 800m, with a time of 1:57, at the JDL College Kickoff Classic.

Shenel Crooke (MSU) won the 60m dash at the Navy Invitational and Princeton Invitational.  

DeAndrea Daniel (CSU) captured first in the high jump and fifth in the long jump at the Christopher Newport Captains Invitational.

Jeremy Dorsey (CSU) won the 60m hurdles, with a time of 7.94, at the Navy Invitational.

Shane Green (CSU) earned MEAC qualifying standards in the triple jump by leaping 14.60m (47-11 ft.) at the Navy Invitational.

Clifford Hackworth (HOW) won the long jump with a leap of 23-9 ft. at the Princeton Invitational.

Brianna Hayes (NSU) placed second in the high jump, with a leap of 1.67m (5-5.75 ft.), at the Christopher Newport Captains Invitational.

Romero Hines (NSU) won the long jump, with a leap of 7.05m (23-01.75 ft.), at the Christopher Newport Captains Invitational.

Khalil Rmidi Kinini (UMES) qualified for MEAC and IC4As in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:16.63 at the Navy Invitational.

Morgan Knight (NCAT) placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.65 at the JDL College Kickoff Classic.

Jailah Mason (MSU) set a Navy Invitational record in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5-07.25 ft.).

Marquis Noble (NCAT) placed second in the long jump at 23-6 ft. at the JDL College Kickoff Classic.

Dennis Pugh (FAMU) finished first in the 60m hurdles and seventh in the 400m at the Birmingham Southern Ice Breaker.

Jasmine Smith (FAMU) won the 60m dash at the Birmingham Southern Ice Breaker, with a time of 7.62.

Sherri Owens (NCAT) finished third in the weight throw and shot put at the JDL College Kickoff Classic.

Dypna Umunakwe (UMES) finished second in the 200m dash, with a time of 25.34, at the Navy Invitational.
