NORFOLK, Va. – Howard’s Wallace Spencer and Hampton’s Ce’aira Brown were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Dillon Simon and Hampton’s Teiara Denmark were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Spencer (Sr., Chester, Pa.) captured the 60m, with a time of 6.91, at the Gulden Invitational. Spencer also finished second in the 60m hurdles and the 200m, with times of 8.06 and 21.91, respectively. His time in the 60m is the best in the MEAC this season.
Brown (So, Philadelphia, Pa.) set a school record in the 1,000m at the Christopher Newport Captain’s Invitational. Brown won the event with a time of 2:51.17.
Simon (Jr., Pottersville, Dominica) set the Fieldhouse record in the shot put (18.64m), beating the previous record of 18.31m, set in 2012. He also shattered his own school record in the weight throw, with a distance of 19.61m. Both distances well exceeded the qualifications for the IC4A.
Denmark (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) won the triple jump and pentathlon at the Christopher Newport Captain’s Invitational. Denmark leaped 12.45m (40-10.25 ft.) to claim the triple jump, and grabbed the pentathlon crown with 3,430 points.

Tremayne Banks (BCU) placed third in the 55m hurdles, with a time of 7.52, at the South Carolina Indoor Open #2.
Champagne Bell (NSU) notched season bests in the long jump (5-73m/18-9.75 ft.) and 200m (25.39) at the Hokie Invitational.
Skylar Buchanan (Howard) finished second in the 60m, with a time of 7.73, at the Gulden Invitational.
Jessica DeRoux (BCU) hit a mark of 2.74m (8-11.75 ft.) to finish fifth at the South Carolina Indoor Open #2.
La’Creesha Gore (NCCU) placed second in the 200m at the North Carolina Invitational, with a time of 25.29.
Shantol Hemley (UMES) recorded a second-place finish in the 1,000m, with a time of 3:07.65, at the CNU Captain’s Invitational.
Breonca Reid (BCU) finished third in the 55m, with a time of 7.21, at the South Carolina Indoor Open #2.
Jasmin Selby (Howard) ran 57.57 in the 400m to place second at the Gulden Invitational.
Keron Stoute (BCU) won the high jump at the South Carolina Indoor Open #2, with a leap of 1.93m (6-04.00 ft.).
