McCorory helps Team USA 4x400 Relay team to silver

MOSCOW – Former Hampton University track & field standout Francena McCorory helped Team USA’s 4x400-meter relay team take the silver medal at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships on Saturday.

McCorory anchored the squad, which ran a 3:20.41. Jessica Beard, Natasha Hastings, and Ashley Spencer were also on the relay team.

Russia won the event with a time of 3:20.19.

Team USA also had the second-fastest time in Friday’s preliminary heats with a 3:25.18, winning their heat.

In 2011, McCorory anchored the 4x400-meter relay team that won gold at the World Championships in Korea. She is also an Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400-meter relay, anchoring the team in London last summer.

McCorory also finished sixth in the 400-meter dash earlier this week at the IAAF World Championships.
