SSU's White, Stinson Earn Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La.-  Savannah State track & field members Jaymi White and Asia Stinson have earned All-America academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

White and Stinson are both biology majors where White has a 3.29 grade point average and Stinson has a 3.92 GPA.

The duo are also school record holders in their respective events.

White (Hoboken, Ga. / Brantley County High School) holds the SSU record in the long jump with a leap of 19'11.5". Stinson (Social Circle, Ga. / Social Circle High School) owns the school record in the 60m and 100m and as a member of the women's 4x100m relay team with a time of 45.7.

White and Stinson, who both just finished their sophomore season at SSU, were two of 710 women from 187 institutions earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
