Hampton Track & Field All-Americans Announced

NEW ORLEANS, La. ? The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) announced its Division I Outdoor All-Americans on Monday, and five HamptonUniversity student-athletes received honors.

Benita Taylor?was a Second Team All-American selection after she set the school record in the 800m run this past weekend at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. with a 2:04.72 in the semifinals.

Taylor, who was also an indoor Second Team All-American in the 800m run, was also named an Honorable Mention All-American in the 4x400m relay.

Trey Holloway became the first Pirate since Reggie Dixon in 2010 to earn All-America honors, as he was named Honorable Mention All-American in the 110m hurdles. He ran a 14.05 in the semifinals in Eugene, Ore.

Le’Quisha Parker was an Honorable Mention All-American in both the women’s 200m dash and the 4x400m relay. Emmy Fraenk and Malekah Holland were also named Honorable Mention All-Americans in the 4x400m relay.

The Lady Pirates ran a 3:38.35 in the semifinals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

First Team USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded to those who earn any portion of a team point at the national championships, or reach an eight-entrant final. Second Team All-America honors are handed out to those whose final placing in the national meet range from ninth to 16th place.

Those who participated at the final site but did not place in the meet’s top 16 are listed as Honorable Mention for the All-America award.
