NORFOLK, Va. - Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Dillon Simon and Delaware State freshman Janae Wilson were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, while Delaware State senior Ryan Carter and Maryland Eastern Shore senior Lenora Guion-Firmin were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Friday.
Simon (So., Pottersville, Roseau, Dominica, Throws) had a toss of 55-9.25 ft. (17.00m) in the shot put to win gold at the University of Virginia Invitational. His toss leads the MEAC and ranks 49th nationally. Simon also had a throw of 176-0.0 ft. (53.65m) to capture bronze in the discus and claim the lead in conference rankings. His throw broke a 50 year old school record and ranks 47th in the nation this season.
Wilson (Fr., Windsor, Conn., Jumps) finished first out of 55 competitors to win the second section of the women’s long jump at the Raleigh Relays. Her jump of 18-10.5 ft. (5.75m) ranks fifth in the conference.
Carter (Sr., New Castle, Del., Sprints) sits atop the conference rankings and is fourth nationally in the 400m dash after posting a time of 46.56 to win gold at the Raleigh Relays. He also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay as a team finished second overall with a time of 3:09.28.
Guion-Firmin (Sr., La Martinique, France, Sprints) leads the MEAC and is fourth nationally in the 400m dash after running a 53.40 to capture gold at the University of Virginia Invitational. She also posted a victory in the 200m dash (23.60), where she ranks second in the conference and 16th nationally.

Jamarian Bates (NSU) won the long jump at the University of Virginia with a leap of 23-4.75 ft (7.13m).
Aaron Chatman (UMES) ran a 48.94 to finish fourth in the 400m dash at the University of Virginia Invitational.
Imani Cox (UMES) tossed a 48-7.5 ft. (14.82m) mark to take bronze in the women’s shot put at the University of Virginia Invitational.
Joy Gilmer (HOW) won the 800m run at the Maryland Invitational with a time of 2:12.81.
Cameron Hall (SSU) finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.03 at the Winthrop Invitational.
Apple Harris (B-CU) logged a 12.11 in the 100m dash at the University of North Florida Invitational for a ninth-place finish.
Aleah Hordges (SSU) was a member of the 4x400m relay team at the Winthrop Invitational that took home the gold with a time of 3:54.40.
Rayanna Johnson (B-CU) posted a 37-10.75 ft. (11.55m) mark in the women’s triple jump at the University of North Florida Invitational to finish sixth in the event.
Barry Kimbrough (B-CU) was sixth in the discus at the University of North Florida Invitational with a throw of 150-0.0 ft. (45.71m).
Sherril McFarlane (SCSU) posted a time of 4:44.56 to earn a fifth-place finish out of 44 runners in the 1500m run at the University of North Florida Invitational.
Giovan Mowatt (HOW) captured gold in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.54 at the Maryland Invitational.
Xavier Molette (SCSU) finished second and broke a school record in the discus at the University of North Florida Invitational, recording a toss of 168-2.0 ft. (51.27m).
Lexia Robinson (UMES) tied her own school record in the discus with a throw of 151-10.0 ft. (46.27m) Virginia Invitational.
Junior Saint Preux (B-CU) logged the sixth-best time in the MEAC this season for the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.42, earning him a fifth-place finish at the University of North Florida Invitational.
Ekundayo Sogbesan (MSU) competed in three events at the Raleigh Relays, capturing gold in both the 400m dash (53.87) and the 4x100m relay (45.17) and finishing fourth in the 4x400m relay (3:41.74).
Wallace Spencer (HOW) won the110m hurdles with a time of 14.33 at the Maryland Invitational.
Emmanuel Stewart (MSU) had a toss of 169-7.0 ft. (51.69m) to capture first place in the discus at the UMBC Big Dawg Invitational.
Celeste Taylor (SCSU) finished eighth out of 35 competitors in the women’s shot put at the University of North Florida Invitational with a toss of 40-10.5 ft. (12.46m).
Monica Todd (HOW) won gold in the 100m hurdles with time of 14.64 at the Maryland Invitational.
Qua’Nesha Wallace (NSU) helped the Spartans win the 4x100m relay title at the University of Virginia Invitational as the team finished in 45.92.
Seymour Walter (SCSU) beat 47 other runners to capture the men’s 800m run at the University of North Florida Invitational, finishing in 1:52.26.
Jaymi White (SSU) took second in the heptathlon long jump and finished fourth overall at the Winthrop Invitational.
