Coppin State Eagles Capture Five Titles in Winning Coppin State Invitational

BALTIMORE -- The Coppin State men's track and field team won four individual titles and a relay race on its way to winning the Coppin State Invitational team crown on Wednesday at the CSU Track and Field Complex.

Julian Coiner, Shane Green, Rosen Daniel and Alaric Coker all claimed individual titles and the Eagles 4x100-relay team also emerged victorious.

Coppin State finished with 127 points to outdistance second-place Howard which finished with 112 points. Delaware State was third with 48 points, Washington Adventist finished fourth with 39 points and Bowie State finished fifth with 26 points.

Coiner edged Jarret James of Howard to win the high jump competition as the freshman cleared 6-0.50 to win the event.

Green easily won the triple jump event as he improved on his seasonal-best performance with a mark of 48-10.00, which ranks second all-time at Coppin State.

Rosen Daniel edged teammate Jeremy Dorsey to win the 200 meters. Daniel finished in a time of 22.55, while Dorsey crossed the line in 22.87.

Coker claimed the title in the 800 meters as he finished in 1:58.76, well ahead of Sonny Hicks of Bowie State who placed second in 2:03.40.

The Eagles also won the 4x100 relay as the team of Kareem Crawford, Delroy Davis, Jibri Victorian and Haysean Cowie-Clarke finished in a time of 42.81.

Coppin State had 17 top-10 finishes on the day.

Coppin State's Easterling Wins Two Events Leading Eagles to CSU Invitational Victory

BALTIMORE -- Alexis Easterling, Tanaya Yarde, Sandra Bonga, Deandra Daniel, Christina Epps and the Coppin State 4x100-relay team all won titles leading the Eagles to the team crown at the Coppin State Invitational on Wednesday at the CSU Track and Field Complex.

Easterling led the way for the Eagles as she won both the 100 hurdles and the long jump competition. Yarde won the 200 meters, Bonga captured the 400 meters, Daniel won the high jump and Epps finished first in the triple jump.

The Eagles easily won the team title as they finished first with 188 points, while Bowie State placed second with 68.50 points. Howard was third with 63.50 points, Delaware State finished fourth with 37 points and Washington Adventist was fifth with six points.

Easterling captured the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.91 to beat teammate Ashley Bacote who placed second in a time of 15.48. She also won the long jump with a jump of 19-1.25.

Yarde finished first in the 200 meters as she crossed the line in 25.70 just ahead of Bonga who finished in 25.85.

Bonga came back to place first in the 400 meters in a time of 58.25, while teammate Shena Brownell was second in 58.88.

Danile cleared 5-3.75 to win the high jump competition and Epps posted a mark of 39-5.75 to finish first in the triple jump.

The Eagles 4x100 team of Bonga, Melissa Caddle, Easterling and Yarde finished first overall in a time of 46.81.
